material:wood

DesignMarch 2020

At Hafnarborg‘s exhibition for DesignMarch, the focus will be on wood as a material. Wood is an organic matter that bends equally to the laws of nature and chance. It does not yield easily and the material itself often affects the final outcome, whether in regards to shape or finish. In addition, there will be an examination of the divide between different art forms that has become increasingly obscure in recent years, perhaps even becoming obsolete.

The idea behind the exhibition is to bring together designers and artists of different backgrounds and varied perspectives, all of whom still work or wrestle with this magnificent material, in one form or another, as they seek to realize their ideas. The featured works, by designers as well as artists, are both new and recent, all being made from the same material:wood.

The participants are Aðalheiður S. Eysteinsdóttir, Agustav (Ágústa Magnúsdóttir and Gustav Jóhannsson), Björn Steinar Blumenstein, Guðjón Ketilsson, Indíana Auðunsdóttir, Nordic Angan, Rósa Gísladóttir, Sindri Leifsson, Tinna Gunnarsdóttir and Unndór Egill Jónsson. The curator of the exhibition is Unnur Mjöll S. Leifsdóttir.

The exhibition is a part of DesignMarch 2020.
