Thursday July 9th at 8 p.m., Eiríkur Hallgrímsson, tourist guide and art historian, will lead a walk through Víðistaðatún Park, focusing on the area’s artworks. The group will set out from the parking lot next to the church.
Many of the works, by both local and foreign artists, were made at an International Sculpture Encounter, in connection with the Hafnarfjörður International Arts Festival, held in 1991 and 1993, which also marked the foundation of Hafnarfjörður’s sculpture garden on that site. Moreover, these artworks comprise a large part of the museum and municipality‘s public art collection.
The town of Hafnarfjörður offers a programme of special health and culture walks every Thursday evening through the summer. The walks are a collaborative effort by Hafnarborg, The Hafnarfjörður Museum, The Hafnarfjörður Library and The Health Town Hafnarfjörður. Participation is free of charge and everyone is welcome. The event is in Icelandic.
