You Are Here – Curator Talk

Saturday October 4th at 1 p.m., co-curator Hólmar Hólm will lead guests on a walkthrough of the exhibition You Are Here, presenting works from the public art collection of Uppsala, one of Hafnarfjörður’s twin towns. Cinnamon buns and coffee will be served on the occasion of the Swedish Cinnamon Bun Day (Sw. kanelbullens dag), which is celebrated every year on October 4th. We also draw attention to the fact that this marks the exhibition’s final weekend.

The exhibition reflects on questions of place, belonging and community – what is here, what is home, what is our environment or our community? What does it mean to put down roots, to create connections and to see ourselves as part of a greater whole?

Through the eyes of a diverse group of eighteen artists, we encounter images of northern life that resonate with our own surroundings – the climate and the cold, shared values and character, as well as our shared cultural heritage. The exhibition thus asks us to consider both the similarities and the differences that shape our communities, as we imagine life in Uppsala.

The featured artists are Anastasia Savinova, Anders Sunna, Anton Wiraeus, Aron Landahl, Britta Marakatt-Labba, Ebba Stålhandske & Gudrun Westerlund, Ellen Ehk Åkesson, Finn Öhlund, Ikram Abdulkadir, Katarina Sundqvist Zohari, Lina Eriksson, Lisa Wallert, Meta Isaeus-Berlin, Olof Hellström, Sara-Vide Ericson, Stina Wollter and Ulla Fries. Exhibition committee: Aldís Arnadóttir, Hólmar Hólm, Mikaela Granath, Tove Otterclou. The project is supported by the Museum Fund.

Free entry – everyone welcome.
