Saturday October 30th at 3 p.m., artist Katrín Inga Jónsdóttir Hjördísardóttir will activate her sculpture at the exhibition Community of Sentient Beings with a live performance. Katrín Inga´s work, titled RAW PURENESS – SELFLOVE, is a manifestation of ongoing artistic research into the notions of self-love and its importance for reclaiming femininity beyond its representation in mainstream culture.
The sculpture, which involves sonic material, for an upcoming music album by an artist, explores ways of emotional introspection and further political significance of self-love. In the performance, the artist will involve her body to activate the piece and emphasize the importance of the embodied practice for the mode of personal politics conveyed by the piece.
The same day, the artist Rúnar Örn Jóhönnu Marinósson will present the last of his weekly performances, which have been a part of the exhibition‘s programme, in connection with his work Suck & Blow Live and Work. The artist will then be present in the space of the museum from 2 p.m.
Content warning: please note that Katrín Inga’s performance involves nudity. The duration of the performance is approximately 20 minutes.
