Phonemes – Blöndun/Fusione

Sunday March 23rd at 8 p.m., flutist Björg Brjánsdóttir and double bassist/composer Ingibjörg Elsa Turchi will perform at the former of two upcoming spring concerts in Hafnarborg’s concert series, Phonemes. The programme will feature new works born from their budding collaboration, including Blöndun/Fusione, a solo piece for bass flute that Ingibjörg Elsa Turchi originally composed for Björg Brjánsdóttir. This composition marked the beginning of their artistic partnership and its title reflects the essence of their collaboration, as their musical backgrounds span a wide range of styles and traditions. In recent months, they have worked together on new pieces that will be premiered at this concert, alongside the work that initiated their creative journey.

Tickets are sold in Hafnarborg: general admittance is 2,500 ISK, with a reduced price of 1,500 ISK for senior citizens and students.

Phonemes, Hafnarborg’s contemporary concert series, is dedicated to presenting works by composers of the 20th and 21st centuries, leading audiences into unexplored sonic landscapes through the unique artistic vision of each featured composer. The series has been part of the museum’s programme since 2013.
