Linger – Artist and Curator Talk

Sunday February 23rd at 2 p.m., we invite you to an artist and curator talk with Danny Rolph, Joel Tomlin and Vanessa Jackson, all of whom participate in the exhibition Linger. The conversation will be led by co-curator Mika Hannula, exploring the artists’ practices and the works presented in the exhibition. The talk will be in English.

Linger reflects on art as a process and its inner logic to connect, not only to us, the viewer, but also to its surroundings. The exhibition thus poses questions about what happens when we are confronted with works that demand us to engage and be affected. Works that in their innocence and intimate situation are risk-taking.

Rolph, Tomlin and Jackson each approach these questions in distinct ways. Rolph and Jackson’s works adapt to the space and situation, allowing the geometric abstract elements to take charge. Tomlin constructs symbols and shapes that, when put together, form a language in its own right. Their works, like the exhibition itself, urge us to pause, reflect and, ultimately, to linger.

The exhibition is accompanied by the publication Linger, featuring essays by Mika Hannula. Edited by Birgir Snæbjörn Birgisson and designed by Sigrún Sigvaldadóttir, the book is published by Hunang with support from The Icelandic Visual Art Copyright Association and Hafnarborg.

Free entry – see you at Hafnarborg.
