Saturday November 1st at 2 p.m., artist Þórir Gunnarsson will welcome guests at his exhibition Lightning, currently on view at Hafnarborg in connection with Art Without Borders 2025. At the talk, Þórir and curator Unnur Mjöll S. Leifsdóttir will explore the core topics and themes of Þórir’s artistic output.
In this exhibition, Þórir Gunnarsson, also known as Listapúkinn, invites the viewer into a world that is both deeply personal and full of playful energy. Þórir draws inspiration from his surroundings – from bus rides, nature, or his runs – and his interest in the rhythms of human life and sports is expressed in the vitality of his work. He works primarily with drawing and watercolour, where observation and experience merge, with layers of material and ideas combining to create a new reality.
Þórir works at Listvinnzlan as an artist, consultant and assistant instructor, emphasising accessibility to culture and art education for people with disabilities. In recognition of this pioneering work, he received the Múrbrjótur award from Þroskahjálp in 2021. He has also been named Artist of the Year by the town of Mosfellsbær and he has exhibited widely, including at the Nordic House, Gerðarsafn and the Reykjavík Art Museum.
Free entry – everyone welcome.
