Sunday, March 6th at 2 p.m. Ágústa Kristófersdóttir, museum director at Hafnarborg, will lead a guided tour of the two exhibitions on view now at Hafnarborg. Those are Fields of Lava by painter Kristbergur Pétursson and DIKTUR, by artist Ragnhildur Jóhanns. Sunday is also the last day of Ragnhildur’s exhibition DIKTUR.
After living amongst the fields of lava in Hafnarfjörður, it has sculpted his view thowards nature and his surroundings. The rich textures and dark surface of his paintings becomes like a ancient and almost transparent membrane or a protective shield.
Ragnhildur’s material is found, used books which in her treatment, gain a new existance. Ragnhildur changes the way we think of this everyday object, the book, and brings it new life.
