Friday April 19th at 6 p.m., the newly formed band Blúsband Maríu will perform at the next Afternoon Concert at Hafnarborg. The band is made up of singer María Magnúsdóttir, Andrés Þór Gunnlaugsson on guitar, bassist Birgir Steinn Theodorsson and Sólrún Mjöll Kjartansdóttir on drums.
The programme will feature new renditions of old blues songs, as well as new material in conversation with the golden age of soul. The band then pays tribute to artists such as Robert Johnson, Bessie Smith, Etta James, Beth Hart and Tom Waits.
The concert lasts for approximately one hour and admission is free.
The concert series is supported by the town of Hafnarfjörður, the Rannís Music Fund and the FÍH Culture Fund.
