Culture walks in Hafnarfjörður – Art’s Spark

This summer, guided evening walks will be held in Hafnarfjörður all Thursdays at 8 pm. Each walk will take about an hour and is appropriate to all. Participation is free at charge.

Thursday June 9th at 8 p.m. the walk will take place around the areas where the artist Hanna Davíðsson lived. She moved into Sívertsens-house in the year 1912 and is the oldest house of Hafnarfj0rdur. Hanna’s story will be told and the places which inspired her art will be discussed. The walk ends with a visit to Fríkirkjan church in Hafnarfjörður but works by Hanna hold an important place in the church.

The walk starts at the Pakkhús of the town’s museum of Hafnarfjörður at Vesturgata 6.

Ólöf K. Sigurðardóttir, director of Hafnarborg, will lead the walk along with Hulda Cathinca Guðmundsdóttir, Hanna’s grandchild. Ólöf curated an exhibition of Hanna’s work in the beginning of the year and drew attention to the work of this sincere artist that worked in Hafnarfjörður throughout her life.
