Tuesday October 6th at 12 p.m., we warmly welcome you to the next Midday Concert at Hafnarborg, when Martyna Gesella will be the guest of Antonía Hevesi, pianist and artistic director of the concert series.

Martyna Gesella, soprano, is from Poland and studied at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk and the Conservatorio di Musica Gioachino Rossini in Pesaro, Italy. Her training also includes singing, acting and solo performance. Martyna has performed in opera productions in Poland, Italy and Germany, performing works by composers including Verdi, Rossini, Puccini, Bellini and Mozart.

Her repertoire includes the roles of Violetta in La traviata, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte and the title role in Tosca. She has won a prize at the Golden Voices International Singing Competition in Warsaw and has also sung with José Carreras. Martyna is currently active as a performer in Iceland and earlier this year sang the role of Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi with the opera company Norðuróp. She also works as a vocal coach.

Antonía Hevesi, pianist, has since the beginning served as the artistic director of the Midday Concert series at Hafnarborg, which has been a regular part of the museum’s programme since 2003. In this role, Antonía has collaborated with many of the country’s leading vocalists, with the aim of offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy live music performances at a relaxed pace. The Midday Concerts are generally held on the first Tuesday of each month during the winter season.

The concert starts promptly at 12 p.m., lasting for approximately half an hour. The doors open at 11:30 a.m. and the concert is open to all, as long as seating is available. Free entry.
