Sunday September 13th at 11:28 a.m., Hafnarborg will open earlier than usual in connection with Daníel Ágúst Ágústsson’s work 11:28-15:32 _ 13.09.26, presented as part of the museum’s Autumn Exhibition, margins, curated by Katrín Björg Gunnarsdóttir and Úlfur Bragi Einarsson. The work takes its cue from the sunlight that falls through the circular window in Hafnarborg’s main gallery, where Daníel has traced the path of the light as it enters through the window on this particular day, September 13th, from 11:28 a.m. to 3:32 p.m.

In his work, Daníel often draws attention to the distinct elements of each exhibition space. Here, he directs visitors’ eyes both to the window and to the light, as their eyes search the room for it and they discover something that stands outside the work itself. What the work represents, however, is only one particular instance of this constantly changing phenomenon as it moves through the space from day to day. In margins, attention is thus turned to the space itself and to the possibilities that reside in the unseen or forgotten, in the void that is never truly empty.

Daníel Ágúst Ágústsson is an artist and fashion designer, based in Reykjavík. His practice often involves large-scale installations and sculptures in which materials and methods enter into an active dialogue with the surrounding space, redirecting attention towards the environment of the work. The artist will also be present in the space, during the day, giving visitors an opportunity to talk with him and experience the work at the moment to which it refers.
