Hafnarborg invites primary school children to participate in fun and creative workshops during the upcoming Winter Break, February 22nd and 23rd. The workshops will explore different activities, so children are welcome to attend either or both days.
Collage Workshop in Icelandic and Polish
Thursday February 22nd at 1-3 p.m.
Artists Lukas Bury and Unnur Mjöll Leifsdóttir will lead a workshop where participants create collages out of paper. During the workshop, we will delve into the world of colour and experiment with forms. Paricipants can also seek inspiration for their work within the museum’s exhibitions and spaces. The instructors are fluent in Icelandic, English and Polish.
Creating and Shaping with Clay
Friday February 23rd at 1-3 p.m.
Designer Þóra Breiðfjörð facilitates a workshop focused on clay and its possibilities. Exploring Jónína Guðnadóttir’s exhibition Tidemark, currently on view at the museum, participants will translate their own ideas into sculpture. Clay in three colours will be provided for shaping and experimentation. The artworks will subsequently be sent to be fired in a kiln and can later be picked up at the reception of Hafnarborg.
The workshops will take place on the ground floor of the museum and we ask that children attend accompanied by parent(s) or guardian(s). As always, participation in workshops and entrance to the museum’s exhibitions is free of charge.
