Hafnarborg invites primary school children to participate in fun and creative workshops during the upcoming Winter Break, October 24th and 25th. The workshops will explore different activities, so children are welcome to attend either or both days.
Creative Freedom – Drawing in Colour
Thursday October 24th at 1-3 p.m.
The workshop will be based on embracing creative freedom, where participants join together to draw as a form of collaborative art-making. The result will be a shared, improvised artwork on a grand scale. All materials are provided and attendees will be encouraged to experiment with different mediums, like pencils, crayons, markers, watercolours and charcoal. The instructor is artist Sigurður Ámundason.
Friday October 25th at 1-3 p.m.
Halloween Origami
A fun and family-friendly event where participants of all ages can explore the art of Japanese paper folding. Through hands-on activities, attendees will learn about origami, while experiencing the joy of transforming simple paper into spooky Halloween decorations. Instructors are Yasuka Kawakami, who will share the art of origami from her home country Japan, and the Icelandic artist Ingunn Fjóla Ingþórsdóttir. The instructors combined speak Icelandic, English and Japanese. The event is a part of the museum’s programme In My Language.
The workshops will take place on the ground floor of the museum and we ask that children attend accompanied by parent(s) or guardian(s). As always, participation in workshops and entrance to the museum’s exhibitions is free of charge. Everyone welcome.
