Total Babes – Turboschnalzlautsprecherrennen

Sunday August 31st at 1-3 p.m., we invite guests to take part in Turboschnalzlautsprecherrennen (Turbo Crackle Loudspeaker Race), a workshop/performance/sonic happening led by Canadian artist Darsha Hewitt, one of the participants in Hafnarborg’s autumn exhibition Total Babes.

During the event, paricipants will collaborate to build an immersive sound experience with handmade oscillators – a multi-track drum machine of sorts where pops, clicks and squeaks fall in and out of sync to create unexpected encounters with harmony.

Turboschnalzlautsprecherrennen uses playful experimentation with DIY electronics and dynamic troubleshooting as an improvisational approach towards experimental music. All materials will be provided, and the workshop will be offered in both English and Icelandic as part of Hafnarborg’s multilingual programme In My Language.

The event is open to guests aged 15 and older. Capacity is limited, so we encourage early arrival. As always, participation in workshops and entrance to the museum’s exhibitions is free of charge. Everyone welcome.
