Physical Cinema Festival 2026: Clare Langan at Hafnarborg

Friday March 27th until Sunday March 29th, Hafnarborg presents special screenings of short video works by artist Clare Langan as part of Physical Cinema Festival 2026.

Inside the museum, Heart of a Tree (2020) is set in a barren, treeless landscape and imagines a future in which humans must adapt to survive in a world shaped by environmental collapse. The work also reflects on the vital role of trees in sustaining life on Earth and draws attention to humanity’s disconnection from nature.

After dark, passers-by can also see Future Primal (2018) by Langan projected onto the side of Hafnarborg. This work likewise reflects on evolution and the future of the human race in the face of species extinction. Together, the works move between science fiction, speculation and ecological reflection.

Physical Cinema Festival is a celebration of film and various artistic genres, showcasing both short videos and full-length art documentaries. The programme features a unique blend of physical performance, visual arts, sound design, music and cinema.
