Linger – Artist Talk

Saturday May 10th at 2 p.m., we invite you to an artist talk with Ingibjörg Sigurjónsdóttir and Kristinn Már Pálmason, along with co-curator Birgir Snæbjörn Birgisson, all of whom take part in the exhibition Linger. Together, they will discuss their artistic practices, the exhibited works, and the broader themes of the exhibition.

Linger reflects on art as a process and its inner logic to connect, not only to us, the viewer, but also to its surroundings. The exhibition thus poses questions about what happens when we are confronted with works that demand us to engage and be affected. Works that in their innocence and intimate situation are risk-taking.

Ingibjörg Sigurjónsdóttir works with found and everyday materials that, when taken out of its original context, find a new ephemeral lightness of being. Kristinn Már Pálmason assembles symbols, shapes and fragments that form intuitive compositions that hover between structure and suggestion. Though distinct in approach, both artists engage with materials that carry traces of the past, inviting us to reflect on memory, transformation and the shifting nature of meaning.

The exhibition is accompanied by the publication Linger, featuring essays by co-curator Mika Hannula. Edited by Birgir Snæbjörn Birgisson and designed by Sigrún Sigvaldadóttir, the book is published by Hunang with support from The Icelandic Visual Art Copyright Association and Hafnarborg.

Free entry – see you at Hafnarborg.
