Saturday April 2nd between 2-4 p.m., Hafnarborg invites families to come and participate in a creative workshop inspired by Hallgerður Hallgrímsdóttir’s exhibition, A Few Thoughts on Photography – Vol. III, now on view at Hafnarborg’s lower gallery.
At the workshop lightösensitive paper will be used, as participants are encouraged to play with different shapes and methods to create their own light-sensory piece with the guidance of a museum educator and a trained artist.
The workshop is open to families and is free of charge and all materials used are provided by the museum. Enterance to the museum and it’s exhibitions is also free as always.
At the exhibition, A Few Thoughts on Photography – Vol. III, artist Hallgerður Hallgrímsdóttir directs our gaze towards photography as a medium, examining not just the reality in the photograph but the reality of the photograph. By utilizing the various possibilities of the medium, she goes beyond just capturing a subject in good lighting, involving instead everything that happens inside the camera, the darkroom or, lately, in digital processing. At every stage in this process, the production of the image can take a whole, new turn, as there is no correct way of creating a photograph and the camera has its own effect on the end result.
The exhibition is a part of the programme of The Icelandic Photo Festival 2022.
