Saturday April 12th at 1 to 3 p.m., Hafnarborg will host a multilingual workshop that brings together diverse cultures through the creation of Mexican milagros. The workshop will be conducted in Spanish, Icelandic and English, and will be led by artists Hugo Llanes and Ingunn Fjóla Ingþórsdóttir.
During the workshop, participants are invited to contribute to a collective sculpture centred on wellbeing, gratitude and affection. They will also have the opportunity to create their own milagro – a small metal object symbolising a wish or a gesture of thanks for something positive. The milagros are made through the technique of embossing, embedded in Mexican and European traditions.
Hugo Llanes (b. 1990) is a Mexican artist based in Reykjavík, working with a range of media including installations and performances. He holds an MA in Fine Arts from the Iceland University of the Arts.
Ingunn Fjóla Ingþórsdóttir (b. 1976) is an Icelandic artist living in Hafnarfjörður. She has an MA degree in Fine Arts from the Iceland University of the Arts, as well as a BA degree in Art History from the University of Aarhus. Ingunn Fjóla is also the founder of the GETA aid organisation.
In My Language is an event programme focused on making Hafnarborg more accessible to people of different backgrounds by welcoming guests to the museum in various languages. The event is a collaboration between Hafnarborg and GETA – Aid Organisation that works to build a more tolerant and inclusive society through a wide range of activities. The programme is supported by the Museum Fund.
The workshop will take place on the ground floor of the museum. It’s open to individuals of all ages and skill levels, but children should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. As always, participation in workshops and entrance to the museum’s exhibitions is free of charge.

En mi idioma – taller de milagros multilinguë
El sábado 12 de abril de 13:00 a 15:00 horas, Hafnarborg ofrece un taller multilingüe que une culturas diversas mediante la creación de milagros mexicanos. El taller se llevará a cabo en español, islandés e inglés, y será coordinado por los artistas Hugo Llanes e Ingunn Fjóla Ingþórsdóttir.
Durante el taller, los participantes están invitados a crear una escultura colectiva centrada en el bienestar, la gratitud y el afecto. También tendrán la oportunidad de hacer su propio milagrito: un pequeño objeto de metal que representa un deseo o agradecimiento por algo positivo. Los milagros se elaboran con la técnica de repujado, una tradición de origen mexicano con influencias europeas.
Hugo Llanes (n. 1990) es un artista mexicano residente en Reikiavik, que trabaja con diversos medios, como performances e instalaciones. Tiene una maestría en Bellas Artes de Listaháskóli Íslands (Universidad de las Artes de Islandia).
Ingunn Fjóla Ingþórsdóttir (n. 1976) es una artista islandesa que vive en Hafnarfjörður. Es egresada del programa de Maestría en Bellas Artes de Listaháskóli Íslands y también cuenta con una licenciatura en Historia del Arte por la Universidad de Aarhus. Es además fundadora de la organización de ayuda GETA.
En mi idioma es una serie de eventos que busca hacer que Hafnarborg sea más accesible para personas de diversos orígenes, dando la bienvenida a los visitantes en varios idiomas. El proyecto es una colaboración entre Hafnarborg y GETA, una organización que promueve la inclusión y la convivencia intercultural a través de actividades culturales y sociales. El programa cuenta con el apoyo del Fondo de Museos.
El taller se realizará en la planta baja del museo y está abierto a personas de todas las edades. No se requiere experiencia previa, pero los niños deben estar acompañados por un adulto. Como siempre, la participación en el taller y el acceso a las exposiciones del museo son gratuitos.
