Hafnarborg invites primary school children to participate in fun and creative workshops during the upcoming Winter Break. The workshops will explore different activities, so children are welcome to attend either or both days.
Experimenting with Watercolour
Monday October 24th at 1-3 p.m.
Focusing on the present moment, we will explore different possibilities of working with watercolour. Do you want to be in control of the process? Or do you want the pigment to guide your work and even surprise you? We will work with watercolour in free-flow mode, as well as experimenting with other materials, like salt, tape and straws. The instructor will be Elín Anna Þórisdóttir, visual artist.
Let’s Make Our Own Bookmarks
Tuesday October 25th at 1-3 p.m.
We will use natural materials, leaves and more, to make our own bookmarks. We will arrange the autumn leaves into compositions which we then wrap in plastic and cut into shapes. Participants can also use drawing to make their own designs before wrapping them in plastic. Other materials will also be provided, if guests wish to draw or paint with watercolours. The instructor will be Unnur Mjöll S. Leifsdóttir, education representative of Hafnarborg.
The workshops will take place on the ground floor of the museum and children may attend with parents or guardians. As always, participation in workshops and entrance to the museum’s exhibitions is free of charge.
