Sunday February 6th at 2 p.m., artist Hallgerður Hallgrímsdóttir will talk about her work and the exhibition A Few Thoughts on Photography – Vol. III, now on view at Hafnarborg. The curator of the exhibition is Unnar Örn Auðarson.
At the exhibition, Hallgerður directs our gaze at photography as a medium, examining not just the reality in the photograph but the reality of the photograph. By utilizing the various possibilities of the medium, she goes beyond just capturing a subject in good lighting, involving instead everything that happens inside the camera, the darkroom or, lately, in digital processing. At every stage in this process, the production of the image can take a whole, new turn, as there is no correct way of creating a photograph and the camera has its own effect on the end result.
The exhibition is a part of the programme of The Icelandic Photo Festival 2022. The exhibition is supported in part by Myndstef.
